Hammer Hill,
Indoor Pool

Summary - To demolish the existing 1980s pool at Hammer Hill House and create a new, larger, modern styled pool with high thermal performance.

Concept - The idea is to contrast the decorated stone and brick walls of the existing house with simple modern forms and crisp-edge materials. The materials will be different, but reference the colours from the existing property. For example the side of the flat roof could be terracotta tiles or corten steel to pick up the hues from the existing sandstone walls. The overall height of the building will be similar to the existing pool. The inside of the roof will house a stretched ceiling. Glazing will be focused only towards the rear garden for the best views and to increase privacy within the pool. The existing pool will be demolished, as the style and quality is limited. The proposed pool will have a high performing thermal envelope. It is proposed that the pool extends 3m into the courtyard and 2.5m towards the front of the house.
